(The guest speaker is a Manager-specialist care operations from Dental Health Services Victoria. She discusses how their services have been working to address the oral health of people with disability through oral health promotion programs to live well. The guest speaker has talked about how their services are supporting every smile by providing an easy-to-use oral health package for people with disability. They have a range of fantastic resources which are available on their website, including easy read fact sheets, brushing guides, daily mouth care, and a healthy diet, picture communication symbols, and videos. The guest speaker said the clients can make their own choice to decide which resources work best for them.

وقالت مهندسة المناظر الطبيعية كندا طباع، لإذاعة أس بي أس عربي24، "تطوعت في حديقة مجتمعية تعرفت فيها على الثقافة الأسترالية وطريقة التفكير. الشغل كان كيف نجعل المكان العام سهل الوصول للأشخاص الذين لديهم اعاقة. وكيف التغيير الذي نعمله في المكان يفيد كل الأشخاص وليس فقد ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة."
وأضافت "توسيع ممر المكان العام يجعله سهل الوصول للأشخاص على كرسي متحرك. وسهل الوصول أيضا للأم التي تدفع عربة طفل. والشخص المسن الذي يستعمل مساعد المشي أو Walker."

Landscape architect Ms. Kinda Tabbaa-Snyder provides support and assistance to various groups in Australia, especially people with disabilities who are in dire need of assistance, by transforming public spaces to be easily accessible.
Landscape architect Kinda Tabbaa-Snyder told SBS Arabic24, "I volunteered in a community garden where I learned about Australian culture and ways of thinking. The job was how to make the public space accessible to people with disabilities. And how the change we are making in the place benefits everyone, not just people with disabilities or specific needs."
"Expanding pathways in public spaces makes it more accessible for people in a wheelchair. It's also easy for a mother who is pushing a stroller. And an elderly person who uses a walking aid or walker."

La primera vez que el actor venezolano Alirio Zavarce conoció a la escritora, actriz y ex política australiana Kelly Vincent, le nació la idea de crear una compañía de teatro que destacara la inclusión y diversidad en las artes. El resultado fue True Ability.
Este grupo de teatro que se encuentra en la ciudad de Adelaida, la capital de Australia del Sur, reúne a artistas de todas las edades y con diversas experiencias relacionadas con la discapacidad y tiene como misión: promover la inclusión en las artes.
El actor, director y productor venezolano Alirio Zavarce es el creador de este proyecto. En entrevista con SBS Spanish, Alirio explica que la verdadera accesibilidad en el teatro no se refiere solamente a crear un espacio para poner una silla de ruedas en el área del público.
Y el venezolano agrega: "Necesitamos hacer unos teatros que sean más adecuados para todo el mundo. Para que todo el mundo pueda tener la experiencia y el derecho, no solo de ver teatro, sino de estar en el teatro, de sentirlo, experimentarlo”.
Pero fue recién en el 2020, durante los confinamientos por la pandemia del coronavirus, que True Ability comenzó a materializarse cuando Alirio compartió su visión con su amiga Kelly Vincent, la escritora, actriz y ex política australiana.
"Paso mucho tiempo tratando de cambiar la percepción de la gente. A veces la gente me trata como a una niña”, asegura en entrevista con SBS Spanish Kelly Vincent, quien habla en español a través de un dispositivo de voz que a veces utiliza para comunicarse.
Para Alirio esto que señala Kelly es un problema global. “A veces la sociedad no está preparada para entender, para hablar y pregunta: 'oye, ¿cómo es esto que un actor puede tener una discapacidad, ¿eso es posible?' La respuesta siempre es 'sí, por supuesto que lo es. Todos somos humanos y todos podemos crear”.
Para ambos creadores, la inclusión es esencial para avanzar en la justicia social, y como líderes en las artes, ellos trabajan sin parar para divulgar este mensaje, donde sea que van.

The first time Venezuelan actor Alirio Zavarce met Australian writer, actress and former politician Kelly Vincent, he was struck with the idea of creating a theatre company that would highlight inclusion and diversity in the arts. The result was True Ability.
This theatre group, located in the city of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, brings together artists of all ages and with various experiences related to disability and has as its mission: to promote inclusion in the arts.
The Venezuelan actor, director and producer Alirio Zavarce is the creator of this project. In an interview with SBS Spanish, Alirio explains that true accessibility in theatre does not only refer to creating a space to put a wheelchair in the audience area.
And the Venezuelan adds: "We need to make theatres that are more suitable for everyone. So that everyone can have the experience and the right, not only to see theatre, but to be in the theatre, to feel it, to experience it."
But it was only in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns, that True Ability began to materialise when Alirio shared his vision with his friend Kelly Vincent, the Australian writer, actress and former politician.
"I spend a lot of time trying to change people's perceptions. Sometimes people treat me like a child," says Kelly Vincent, who speaks in Spanish through a voice device that she sometimes uses to communicate, in an interview with SBS Spanish.
For Alirio, what Kelly points out is a global problem. “Sometimes society is not prepared to understand, to speak and asks: 'hey, how is it that an actor can have a disability, is that possible?' The answer is always 'yes, of course it is. We are all human and we can all create."
For both creators, inclusion is essential to advancing social justice, and as leaders in the arts, they work tirelessly to spread this message, wherever they go.

Carolina cree que si no puedes mover tu cuerpo volarás leyendo o escuchando un libro, especialmente si vives con una discapacidad porque a veces las personas tienen que volver a aprender desde cero.

The library caters for anyone who has no vision or has low vision. It also caters to people who cannot hold or manipulate books, who cannot focus or move eyes, and people with perceptual disabilities such as dyslexia and visual processing disorder. Users can access thousands of audiobooks, CD magazines, newspapers, podcasts, and Braille books.
The VA Connect App provides a greater level of control to users when filtering, sorting, and viewing content. The new Kiosk also helps minimise technical issues and improve users’ experience.
