(Our skin is the largest organ in our body. There are many Australians who suffer from a long-term condition of the skin that can have an impact on their physical health as well as their self-esteem, mental health and wellbeing. Dermatologists are specialist medical doctors. They are the specialists in conditions of the skin, hair and nails. They are able to diagnose, treat and manage more than 3,000 skin conditions. Dermatologists help people with conditions like psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, acne, alopecia, skin infections and skin cancer. Alongside the active treatment for your skin condition, talking to someone can make a real difference. So, if you are feeling really down or depressed about your skin, hair or nail condition, talk to your doctor about this. It is important not to delay seeking help.

(These days, many of us are getting married, raising children, studying and working at the same time. Our storyteller in this episode shares her happy experience in marrying and establishing a family, even though she and her husband both had mobility impairments. She met her husband while volunteering in an organisation that supports people with disability. She made a choice to get married and started a family while she was studying and working. Tune in to hear a story about the importance of planning, cooperation and sharing responsibilities with those we love, in order to ensure the path to living well.

In 2007 Lucy Lopez Rivera was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa. Her diagnosis did not stop her from living an active and happy life.
Through the assistance of various support services, Lucy is able to continue with her activities in the community and theatre. "We need to move on. Live a happy life. We are very lucky here in Australia, I am very lucky to have the support of many people in and out of my home. It allows me to continue with my social life and acting," shares the 62-year-old vision-impaired actress.

(Many people with disabilities enjoy going to clubs and pubs because they are inclusive and welcoming venues. However, the opportunity to gamble at these venues may pose a risk to people's wellbeing if they develop risky gambling behaviours. Feeling in control of your money and your actions is an important part of having independence.
The Chinese Peer Support Program is a telephone service (1300 755 878) for people or their families and friends who are experiencing harm from gambling. It is staffed by Chinese speaking volunteers who have been through their own or a family member's issue in relation to out-of-control gambling behaviour.
