Köyündeki şartlar nedeniyle çok küçük yaşlarda tekerlekli sandalye kullanmaya başlayan hikayecimiz, ailesiyle beraber 5 yaşında Avustralya’ya göç etmiş, kendi tabiri ile Türk Ozi, hayırsever bir terzidir. Engeline rağmen bu yeni ülkede kendine koyduğu hedeflere ulaşmak için biryandan finansal zorluklarla bas ederken diğer yandan kendini biçki dikiş sanatında yetiştirmiş, asla pes etmeden şehrin önde gelen terzilerinden biri olarak un salmıştır. Hikâye anlatıcımız, gençlere geleneksel el isleme tekniklerini öğretirken, adeta ülke çapında folklorik kostümler konusunda danışmanlık veren tek adres olmayı basarmış bir moda evi sahibi ve başarılı bir iş insanıdır. Dahası, hikaye anlatıcımız, göçmenlere ve mültecilere dikiş dikerek yardım eden bir hayırsever olarak.

Köyündeki şartlar nedeniyle çok küçük yaşlarda tekerlekli sandalye kullanmaya başlayan hikayecimiz, ailesiyle beraber 5 yaşında Avustralya’ya göç etmiş, kendi tabiri ile Türk Ozi olmaktan gurur duyan, hayırsever bir terzidir. Kendi isini kurmus, unlu bir modaevi sahibi, basarili bir is insani olan hikaye anlaticimiz, ayni zamanda göçmenlere ve mültecilere dikiş dikerek yardım eden bir hayırsever olarak, engelli bir göçmenin hayatta neler yapabileceği ve iyi yaşamanın ve başarının önündeki engelleri nasıl asabileceği konusunda çok güzel bir örnek teşkil etmektedir.
(Our storyteller, who started using a wheelchair at a very young age due to the remote conditions in her village, moved to Australia at the age of 5 with her family. Aside from living with a disability, adjusting to a new land, culture and language in Australia initially made pursuing her goals challenging.
Fatma proudly calls herself a "good Samaritan" Turkish Aussie and philanthropic tailor. Working hand in Hand with her community and society, she trained and now works as one of the leading tailors in town and is a successful business owner of a fashion house selling high-end dresses. She teaches skillful traditional handmade techniques to youngsters and even provides consultancy regarding Turkish folk costumes to many nationwide intuitions. Moreover, she is a keen philanthropist who helps immigrants and refugees by sewing for them.
About the storyteller
Our storyteller, who started using a wheelchair at a very young age due to the poor conditions in her remote village back in hometown, immigrated to Australia with her family at the age of 5. She refers to herself as a proud Turkish Aussie, a philanthropic tailor. Our storyteller, who has founded her own business, a high-end fashion house, is a successful business person, and as a philanthropist who helps migrants and refugees by sewing, she sets a very good example of what an immigrant with a disability can do in life and how to get over the barriers to live well and succeed.
