تم تشخيص إكرام بمرض تليف الأعصاب عام 2003. ومنذ ذلك الحين تعمل بلا كلل للسيطرة على الأعراض والانتكاسات من خلال التزامها بالعلاج الطبيعي. قررت إكرام احاطة نفسها بأشخاص داعمين لها وأختارت ان تعيش حياة جيدة كل يوم.
"لا أحب العجز. أنا بطبيعتي أحب العمل والحركة والسياقة والخروج من المنزل. أعمل كل الأشياء الخاصة بي بنفسي. حتى التنظيف رغم ان هذا الشيء ليس بالأمر السهل."
"أذهب إلى الجيم وأعمل تمارين رياضية في المنزل أيضا. وأخضع لجلسات العلاج الطبيعي ورفع الأثقال رغم اني أشعر بالتعب."
"الرياضة تغير من صحتي وتجعلني أفضل. عندما أذهب للجيم تعبانة وأمارس الرياضة أعود للمنزل مرة أخرى وأنا مرتاحة بسبب ممارستي للرياضة. أرفع أثقال عشرة كيلوات وعندما أكون تعبانة أرفع أربعة كيلوات."
About the guest speaker

Ikram was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2003. Since then she has been working to manage symptoms through her commitment to physical therapy. Ikram decided to surround herself with supportive people and chose to live a good life every day.
"I don't like helplessness. I naturally like to work, move, drive, go out. I do all my things myself. Even cleaning, though is not an easy thing."
"I go to the gym and do exercises at home too. I do physical therapy and weightlifting even though I'm tired."
"Exercise changes my health and makes me better. When I go to the gym tired and exercise, I come home again and I'm satisfied with my exercise. I lift ten kilos weights and when I'm tired I lift four."
